*** FRIDAY FREE SONG ***
Hi Friends! Happy Friday. I've been going through everything I have, cleaning and organizing, donating what I no longer need. Found a pile of songs that aren't on any albums and aren't planning to be and figured I may as well give them to you in case they are more useful to your ears than they are hiding out at my house.

This first song is a little daydream waltz I wrote a while back, recorded live in Los Angeles by engineer-extraordinaire David Peters. Zac Rae plays his magical pump organ and I'm on upright piano singing. Enjoy! More free songs very nearby. Plus news on my new album which I can't wait to share with you all.

Thank you for being wonderful. Love, Amber

IF WE WERE STILL LOVERS
Music and Lyrics by Amber Rubarth © 2015

If we were still lovers we'd travel the states
And walk hand in hand, then sneak off away
And when night time would come
You would say "good night sweet girl" to me
And I'd know what you mean
And our hearts would feel safe and our bodies alive
We'd have inside jokes, laugh til we cried
And you'd show me off and I'd let out a smile
Each time someone mentioned your name

And we'd walk through this world
With nothing left unturned
And you'd take me with you when you go
And we'd let our love drive
Like a dizzy drunken ride
That we could not resist or control

If we were still lovers I'd memorize your face
And paint every mood of yours green, brown and grey
And then sign off each canvas with a make-believe name
Like Lou Ellen or Maybelline Rose
And if we were still lovers I wouldn't feel empty
The heart in my chest would not be this heavy
My mind would be clear 'cause I wouldn't be fighting
A feeling I knew to be true

And we'd walk through this world
With nothing left unturned
And you'd take me with you when you go
And we'd let our love drive
Like a dizzy drunken ride
That we could not resist or control

If we were still lovers my dear
You'd whisper please come here
And we'd watch old films by the fire
And I'd pull you in tight
